MOUNT AIRY'S FOURTH OF JULY PARADE July 4, 2011
The Mount Airy Downtown Business Association is sponsoring its annual Independence Day
Parade again this year. “An All-American Fourth of July: Hot Dogs, Apple Pie, Lemonade” will be
held on Monday, July 4, 2011 with the parade leaving Veterans' Park at 1pm.
Parade participants may enter the Park between 10:00am and 12pm. Groups walking in the parade
have the option of assembling at the corner of North Main and Taylor Streets by 12:30. Children on
bicycles are invited to participate and will assemble at the Robert Smith House by 12:30.
There is no fee for non-profit participants. The fee for business entries, including those pulling
non-profits, is only $25. Applications are available at Mayberry Consignments and Mount Airy
Tractor Toyland on Main Street, and can be returned there or mailed to PO Box 535, Mount Airy.
Deadline for applications is Friday, June 24th.
Festivities will begin downtown at 12:00, with a reading of “The Declaration of Independence “
by “Ben Franklin” at the Regional Museum. We will have face painting, “Mr Pokeeto” the clown will
be making animal balloons and a corn hole tournament. So please come out and enjoy the festivities
downtown.
Later that evening, there will be music and fireworks at Veterans' Park with gates opening at 5:00pm
