OLD-TIME DANCE with the SLATE MOUNTAIN RAMBLERS Saturday, March 6th
The Surry Arts Council is pleased to present an old-time dance on the first Saturday of every month in the Old-Time Music Heritage Hall (below the Andy Griffith Museum in Mount Airy, 218 Rockford Street). Popular old-time dance band, The Slate Mountain Ramblers, will provide the music for the dance. There is also a clogging workshop from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, free with the purchase of a dance ticket! The workshop will be taught by Samantha Wilhelmi, a very talented young clogger. She will give clogging instruction appropriate for all ages and all abilities, from beginner to advanced. The Slate Mountain Ramblers are led by Richard and Barbara Bowman and have become a mainstay at regional fiddlers conventions and dances. For over 20 years, they have been entertaining folks and winning awards, most recently at the Mount Airy Fiddlers Convention. Following the clogging workshop from 5:30 to 6:30, the dance will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5.
