Kazoku represents the importance of family beginning with the word “Kazoku” itself. Kazoku means family in the Korean and Japanese languages. Our family friendly service caters perfectly for people of all ages! Kristi, the owner and mother of four sons, has many years of operating a Japanese restaurant beginning with Shikora Japanese Cuisine, where all of her sons has worked in developing the business. Kazoku and Shikora are family owned and operated restaurants to make your feel right at home.
Kazoku edifies the history of Downtown Mount Airy. Franklin Street’s construction dates back to late 1896. To honor this, Kazoku has repurposed many of the building’s materials. The bricks inlaid to create the sushi bar originate from the building’s storefront. All of the dining tables consist of wood used from doors inside the building dating back by decades. The mirrors erected onto the wall behind the beverage bar traces its service from 1957.
