Golf, Grapes, & Griffith (Two-Day Golf and Mayberry Trip)

Combine Yadkin Valley golf with stops at several Yadkin Valley wineries. Along the way, explore the town of Mount Airy, the “real” Mayberry.

Day 1

Morning

Head into Mount Airy for a tour of the Andy Griffith Museum and take a nostalgic ride in an old Ford Galaxy squad car to see sites that relate to The Andy Griffith Show.

Lunch

Sample wines at Old North State Winery and Brewery in downtown Mount Airy while chowing down on your lunch in this urban winery that also serves as a deli.

Afternoon

Play a round of Yadkin Valley golf on Cross Creek Country Club, a top 100 North Carolina Golf Course designed by noted golf architect Ellis Maples.

Evening

Check in at Hampton Inn and Suites at Shelton Vineyards before heading over to Harvest Grill located inside the vineyard. Tip: Ask to sit in the air conditioned patio that overlooks the scenic property.

Day 2

Morning

Try your golf swing at the Ellis Mapples designed Cedarbrook Country Club while challenging yourself with its four sets of tees and variety of course setups.

Lunch

Dine and drink wines at Twenty One & Main Restaurant and Bar in downtown Elkin in a casual, fine-dining atmosphere.

Afternoon

Continue your tasting tour through the Upper Yadkin Valley Wine Trail starting in historic downtown Elkin. Stop by any of four wineries—Brushy Mountain Winery, Elkin Creek Vineyards, Grassy Creek Vineyards, and MicRitchie Winery and Ciderworks—that offer much in the way of fun and fantastic scenery.

Evening

Check in at one of several creek-side cabins at Elkin Creek Vineyards, each with a full kitchen, stone fireplace, living room area, bedroom area, full bath, and porch with swings facing Elkin Creek.
