Mayberry Days Festival
Mayberry Days Festival
Time stands still from September 23rd - 29th as Downtown Mount Airy transforms into the delightful world of treasured Mayberry!
Mayberry Days is a festival that celebrates the legacy of The Andy Griffith Show and the simpler times of life. The festival days are filled with the ballads from local bands, exciting games of checkers, pork chop sandwiches, and even a sing-a-long at the Mayberry Days Chapel.
Beginning in 1990 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of The Andy Griffith Show, Mayberry Days has evolved over the years to keep Mayberry's legacy alive. With memories of Sheriff Andy Taylor and his friends, the annual festival has ushered many to Downtown Mount Airy over the years, including cast members and their families. Fans from every state and over five foreign countries have also enjoyed the festivities, as many refer to Mayberry Days as a fun-filled family reunion.
Various locations in this year's lineup include the Andy Griffith Playhouse in the Historic Earle Theatre, the Andy Griffith Museum, the Blackmon Amphitheatre, and the new Arts Center. All of these locations are within walking distance which will make navigating the events quite easy for visitors.
The schedule will be officially released closer to the event, but you can guarantee to experience the Mayor's proclamation, guided tours of the Andy Griffith Playhouse, autographs and photos with a few special guests, kids activities, and, the most anticipated, the Mayberry Days Parade! Special concerts are also scheduled and will feature performances from The Ballamy Brothers, The Entertainers, The Embers featuring Craig Woolard, and more. Movie producer Dick Atkins will host an exclusive screening of Murder in Coweta County starring the late Andy Griffith.
For those who plan on attending Mayberry Days for the first time, expect to leave with a new home-away-from-home. Mayberry Days has something for everyone to enjoy, and as Sheriff Andy Taylor once said, "We cordially invite you to be Mayberry’s guest of honor for the day."
